PAKENHAM Secondary College students will rock Hisense Arena tonight (Wednesday) as they take to the stage for the heats of this year’s Rock Eisteddfod.
Eighty students from Year 7 to Year 12 will captivate the audience with their own take on the legend of Taiga, an ancient forest in Russia with mythical creatures called Leshiyes.
Pakenham Secondary College liaison teacher Tamara Duke said students with on-stage roles had been busy practicing twice a week, while the set crew had been spending up to four nights in recent weeks preparing for the event.
Year 12 student Candice Trapnell has been particularly busy designing both the set and costumes for the performance.
The college has again entered a team in the Premier Division of Rock Eisteddfod where it will compete against nearly 400 Australian schools in 17 regions across Australia.
Students will discover on Monday if they have made it to the finals, which will take place on 18 September.
