BUNNINGS Warehouse’s Pakenham store is on track to open in October.
The $18 million retail development will create 150 jobs and is expected to inject more than $2.5 million into the local economy.
The new warehouse will cover close to 12,000 square metres and stock a wide range of hardware, garden and home improvement products at the lowest prices.
Negotiations are underway to bring another national retailer to the 2.9 hectare site on the Princes Highway, opposite the Lakeside estate.
The development will also include a kids’ playground, cafe and provide parking for 365 cars.
Bunnings General Manager, Property Matthew Toohey said Bunnings was pleased to be opening a store in Pakenham.
“Bunnings’ investment in Pakenham, we anticipate, will inject more than $2.5 m into the local economy,” he said. “Warehouse construction is well underway and we hope to be open for business in October.”
“Bunnings has significantly stepped up its commitment to become carbon neutral by 2015, in line with this, the new and improved Bunnings Warehouse stores will implement a number of energy and water saving design features.”
