Skin check chance

DR MIKE Inskip at Sunspot Skin Cancer Clinic in Hallam recommends that every adult should have their skin checked for potential melanomas.
“The core service we offer is the whole body skin check, in which a well-qualified doctor examines the skin surface looking for skin cancers in their early and eminently treatable stages,” said Dr Inskip who practices skin cancer medicine.
“If the doctor finds a lesion they consider suspicious for melanoma the first step is to confirm or deny the diagnosis.
“This is done by cutting out the suspect lesion under local anaesthetic and sending it to a specialist pathology lab where the lesion will be studied under the microscope.
“Unless the lesion is very large or in a difficult site it is always considered safest practice to cut out the whole lesion for analysis.”
Sunspot clinic is at 202 Princes Highway, Hallam (next to the Shell garage with access via service road).
