Carols ring in festivies

HILLS carollers will have plenty to be merry about this month.
They will help spread the Christmas cheer at several community carol services in Emerald, Cockatoo and Gembrook.
It starts on Friday in Cockatoo at the Alma Treloar Reserve, with a night full of great yuletide entertainment kicking off with a bit of fun and food from 6pm.
Carols committee member Garaldine Roelink said the night would feature performances from a number of local singers including Cockatoo Primary School students.
There will also be plenty to keep the kids entertained with free rides, fairy floss, popcorn and a jumping castle, from 6pm.
Ms Roelink said the night was a real family event and was a great way to celebrate the festive season. The carols will start at 7pm and will include some old-time favourites such as Jingle Bells, Joy to the World and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
The CFA’s Captain Koala will hand out icy-poles tokids.
In Gembrook the festive cheer will continue on Saturday (12 December) at the town’s community centre from 6pm.
Cockatoo Primary School students will also invite locals to come enjoy a night of family fun at the school on Monday 14 December.
There will be plenty to sing about with food and entertainment available from 5pm.
In Emerald, St Mark’s Church will host the carols this year, on Friday 18 December.
