DRIVING down the wrong side of the Princes Highway has seen an elderly Kew man sent to hospital with minor injuries.
Senior Constable Richard Murphy said the man, 67, driving a white Commodore turned right at Cardinia Road onto the highway without noticing the “wrong way” signs.
“As he travelled down the road traffic was travelling in the correct direction, and while no-one was speeding there was a collision,” he said. “Luckily the car driving the right direction was able to take evasive action and stop a head-on collision.”
Sen Const Murphy said the driver of the other car, a black Mazda 3, received minor injuries but did not require hospitalisation.
Police will further investigate reasons for the collision, but Sen Const Murphy said the driver of the Commodore could expect a penalty notice.
