Marygoon reels under Tooradin attack

NAR NAR GOON/Maryknoll in Premier division elected to bat but found the Tooradin attack very hard to score from. It wasn’t until the 60th over that their run rate made even two an over.
Cal O’Hare was the pick of the bowlers taking 5/42 from 28 overs in a fine performance. Steve Hamill also bowled well with 3/36 and Leigh Fankhauser 2/20. Dave Freeman took a blinder down the leg side while keeping in a fine team performance.
Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll were out for 153. Tooradin were 0/3 in reply.

Tooradin routed Gembrook for 58 with Matt Finch leading the way with 8/29 from 17 overs. The Brookers had no answer to the pace of Finch and Rich Holland (2/26).
Tooradin made a bit of a hash in response being 3/8 and then 5/27 before Kane Latham steadied the ship with a fine 44.
Tooradin declared at 7/77 and Gembrook are 0/13 with another 80 overs to bat to avoid being beaten outright.

Tooradin played Pakenham Upper/Toomuc away at the Tynong Reserve.
Winning the toss and fielding Tooradin got off to a good start having PUT 1/21 off seven overs with Dale Bethune bowling excellent line and length. PUT had a good second wicket partnership of 59 before Chris Brennan got a good run out. At tea Tooradin had the hosts 2/92.
Wickets fell a little more steadily after tea but some great bowling from Peter O’Hare 4/69 off 26 overs and Dale Bethune 2/70 kept PUT to a competitive total of 8/238 off 70 overs.

Tooradin were in early trouble at 3/29 against Merinda Park after electing to bat when Daniel Quinn strode majestically to the crease.
He took the most of his chances in making his maiden century.
Only three other batsmen made double figures with 50 being the best partnership. Quinn stood up as batsmen came and went. He hit seven fours in his innings of 101 in a fine solo performance – Tooradin all out for 184.
In reply, James Thompson got the vital breakthrough to have Merinda Park 1/13 in reply.

Tooradin advanced to the semi finals of the Kookaburra Cup with a convincing win over Pakenham on Sunday 6 December.
Batting first after winning the toss, Tooradin made 9/185 from their allotted overs with Cal O’Hare leading the way making 59 from 42 balls including four sixes and five fours.
Other contributions came from Ash Adams (31 from 12 balls including two sixes and three fours) and Aaron Avery 17 from nine balls.
Avery was to feature later on in Pakenham’s innings when they had advanced to 30 from five overs. Avery completed a hat trick dismissing McCormack, Anning and Johns with successive balls in his first over. He finished with the fine figures of 4/19 from three overs.
With Pakenham well behind the run rate at 4/74 after 10 overs, Aaron Brooks was brought into the attack. Brooks had previously taken two wickets in his previous Twenty20 match against Catani and his first ball clean bowled Ryan Kitchin giving Brooks a hat trick over two matches. He wasn’t finished there.
Egged on by his team-mates to make a ‘legitimate’ hat trick in one innings, he dismissed Dom Paynter and Andrew Millar in his next two balls, completing his hat trick and also an amazing five wickets in five consecutive balls – a triple hat trick over two innings. Pakenham were all out for 89 when Ash Adams took the last wicket in the 15th over.
