There’s no doubting Thomas in Rotary debate

THE Rotary Club of Bunyip/Garfield recently held its primary schools’ debating competition which has been held annually for more than 10 years.
This year six schools took part formed into eight debating teams. The first round of heats and the semi-finals were held in term three.
Last month’s grand final saw St Thomas Aquinas College emerge as the winner over Columba Catholic Primary School.
The St Thomas Aquinas team included Bridget Ockerse, Joshua Telford, Brigid Murnane with reserves Jeremy MacDonald and Patrick Kennedy.
The runners-up from Columba were Amelia Rovers, Pene Mitchell, Jack Trippett with reserve members Joshua Tynan and Charlie Ward.
Judges were Fred DeGooyer from the Rotary Club and Robert Easton, a Year 12 student at Kooweerup Secondary College who was an exchange student to France last year, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bunyip/Garfield.
Later in the year the Rotary Club will have further contact with local primary schools when the annual Citizenship Awards is presented.
