Jean takes the bridge club helm

BERWICK Bridge Club members held their annual general meeting on Monday, 7 November and welcomed new president Jean Carter and her committee.
Following the meeting both sections played a seven-table Mitchell.
A grade east/west was won by Helen Morris, a new member from Brisbane, and Heather Saunders.
Second were Jean Carter and Henk Van der Ven.
North/south was won by George Ashby and Peter Ditchfield. Second were Elsie Cadman and John Watson.
B grade east/west winners were Dorothy Scanlan and Joyce Garton. Second were Richard Poole and Joyce Kriss.
North/south was won by Charlie Ward and Peg Bellair from Sue and Chester Keon-Cohen.
An 11-table Mitchell was played on Wednesday, 9 November.
North/south was won by Roger Littlehales and Arthur Perera. Second were Faye Rowlands and Pat Beazley with Lorna Naug and Joyce Kriss third.
East/west was won by Heather Saunders and Ashley Davies.
Second were Gwyn Hughes and Win Roynon with Alf Munro and Dunstan Coorey third.
Thursday’s Howell was won by George Ashby and Annette Kirby.
Second place went to Roger Littlehales and Arthur Perera with Shirley Collins and Heather Saunders third.
North/south winners on Friday were Henk Van der Ven and Michelle Leach.
Second were Shirley Collins and David Yoffa with Ellwyn Miskin and Pat Beazley third.
East/west was won by Sadie O’Brien and John Watson from Michael Berry and Bob Parker with Clive Wilson and Dunstan Coorey third.
