CARDINIA Shire Council and Delfin Lend Lease have launched a $150,000 partnership to deliver a series of public artworks.
Local artists are now invited to apply for selection to the pool of artists that may be commissioned for public art projects.
The selection committee includes representatives from Cardinia Shire Council, Delfin and the community.
Community wellbeing general manager Fiona Hodges said council was keen to recruit a talented and diverse group of artists who will engage vigorously with the community.
“Through this program we want residents, workers and visitors to enjoy attractive and stimulating public spaces,” Ms Hodges said.
Initial community consultation took place in July with enthusiastic contributions from local residents and artists who identified ideas and themes important to the area.
The selected artist(s) for each project will continue to engage with the community to develop works that meet the needs and aspirations of the region.
Three public art sites have been selected around Lakeside at Pakenham.
Project one is due to be commissioned by March 2006 with project two and three to follow later next year. Applications to be considered for the pool of artists close on 3 January, 2006.
