Hay, hay there’s help on the way

THE Pakenham and Cranbourne Rotary clubs are joining forces to lend a helping hand to Queensland farmers.
The clubs will donate bales of hay to be distributed among farmers affected by the devastating floods in Queensland.
Cranbourne Rotary Club member Bruce Peterson said about 400 bales had been collected from local farms so far, and he hoped to have about 1500 to deliver in the next week or so.
Mr Peterson said farmers needed help straight away.
“Because of the floods there has been a lot of hay and fodder and grain that has been ruined,” he said.
“Any practical help like good quality hay from down here is going to be most beneficial to them.
“We saw the need and we thought the practical way of helping them was to put something together and get it straight to the people who need it most.”
Linfox will transport the hay to the flood-affected farmers and the Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) will supply the fuel.
