Carp and an eel land on farm

By Nicole Williams
STUART Blew had visitors of a different kind on Sunday morning.
A carp and a three-foot eel took to the floodwaters on his Vervale farm.
“We couldn’t believe it.” Mr Blew said.
“They were just swimming around the house.”
Mr Blew said there was enough water that the carp could swim around the property unhindered.
“You couldn’t tell the difference between the drain and the yard,” Mr Blew said.
“It’s the worst flood we’ve seen – and we’ve been here for 60 years.”
The eel escaped capture but Mr Blew’s neighbour, Peter, managed to capture the carp in a net.
Mr Blew said the carp made a nice meal.
