Kohut, Davies the trophy Kings

SATURDAY was the second round of the King Trophy foursomes championship and the pair of Steve Kohut and Chris Davies were the Handicap Winners with a score of 133 ¾ after adding the two rounds together. The scratch winners were Shane Szybkowski and Rob Swift with a score of 138. The 2nd round winners were Charlie Barnes and Peter Scott with a score of 64 3/8. Life member Paul Wheeler gave a brief run down on the history of this event and thanked both Les and Peter King and their families for sponsoring this event since the late eighties.
The overflow event was a round of stableford, Trevor Franklin (17) was the winner of A grade with 37 points and B grade on countback was won by Ken Pettiford (27) with 40 points.
Nearest the pins were 4th Charlie Barnes, 8th Harry Mathews, 9th Russell Gough, 11th John Blair, 14th Scott O’Donnell and the 16th Terry Mc Laughlin. The second shot on the 7th was Darren Mouser.
Down-the-lines for the King Trophy were Andrew Pattern/ Terry Mc Laughlin 67 ½, Ron Fielding/ Mick Neylan 69 5/8, Peter Johnson/Eric Harvie 69 3/8. Stableford were Arti Koopman 40, Geoff Roberts 39, Russell Gough 36, Bill Low 36, Carl Waters 35 and Don Smith 35.
The ladies winner was Gail Franklin (34) with 45 points and Bill Low won the weekly raffle.
The summer cup semi was played with Terry Webster defeating Gary Scholes 3/2.
Thursday event was won by Ray Jones (33) with 41 points and the runner up was W. Todd (33) with 39 points. Down-the-lines went to Russell Meehan 39. The super 9 winners were W. Todd 20 and Ray Jones 20. Nearest-the-pins were 4th Russell Meehan, 8th Chris Bowers, 9th Peter Skinner, 11th C Smith, 14th C Smith and the 16th Chris Bowers.
The Twilight was won by Peter Johnson with 24 points, down-the-lines went to A. Gard 23 and Allan Smith with 23 points. The lucky draw was G. Hobson. Next week’s event is the monthly Medal.
