“GOOD to be back riding in Australia … and good to ride a winner at my home track on Pakenham Cup day.”
Those were the words of jockey Noel Callow, who added to the international flavour of the winner of the Get Out Stakes on Sunday.
Aussie Public, whose dad Johannesburg is an American horse, is from New Zealand and was ridden by a South Australia-born Victorian who was returning to riding here after years of plying his trade in Malaysia.
Aussie Public is trained by Ross Elliott, better known as a former jockey who used to pilot Cox Plate winning galloper Rough Habit.
Elliott has recently moved from Cambridge in NZ to Officer.
Callow let his riding do the talking.
“I don’t have much to say, I’m just happy being home and getting a winner,” he said.
“No, the family didn’t go … I’ve been a jockey for too long for them to come to the races.”
Good to be back
