Dempster wins the day

RHYS Dempster returned a score of 63 nett off a handicap of 28 to be the winner of the March monthly medal at the Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
The A Grade went to Kevin Booker with 68 (1) and the C Grade winner was George Wheeler with 66 (20). Booker was also the scratch winner.
The Nearest the Pin on the Shanikas@Viale 2nd hole was Shane Wilkinson with Graham Huxtable taking out the Hardy’s Mitre 10 voucher on the 5th hole. Mark Hatton was the winner of the Dante’s Wood-fired Pizza 8th hole and Robin Mc Crae won the Pro Trucks Pro Pin 14th hole. The Maloney’s Pakenham Pizza 16th hole winner was Damien Pintar.
The 2nd shots went to Dan Cameron (3rd hole), Glenn Hildebrand (B.M.R. Autos 6th hole), Kevin Booker (Unique Bathroom Design and Renovation 11th hole and the CTM Bricklaying 17th hole). Kevin had an eagle on the 11th hole, which is quite an achievement.
The B.M.R. Autos Longest Drive winners saw Stephen Whitehead take out the A Grade, Mal Davey the B Grade and Don Towan the C Grade.
The Super Competition winners were Rhys Dempster from Mitchell Dempster and George Wheeler.
The Down the Line ball winners were Mitchell Dempster 65, Bob Muddyman 66, Daniel Pantorno 68, Wayne Knudsen 69, Ken Steven 70, Lionel Mahony 70, Mick Boyd 70, Brian Cook 70, Max Craig 71, Glen Easto 71, Beau Wheeler 71, Robin Mc Crae 71, Tym Davey 71, Anton Kokke 71, Gary Wilkinson 71, Tom Mc Dermott 72, Graeme Steel 72, Bryan Clydesdale 72, Tim Sallai 72, Brian Webster 72, Peter Dempster 72, Bernard Carroll 72, Rex Valena 73, Dale Thomas 73 and Bill Taberer 73
Next Saturday sees a Righties vs Lefties Stableford event and the following week is a four man Ambrose Hartball event. If you are unsure of how you play Hartball, please ask for a copy of the rules from the shop or office.
As next week includes a long weekend, please make sure you make a booking for the Sunday and Monday competitions. There is a three-day event being played over this weekend with the best two rounds counting.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:Monday Competition

Ron Winsall was the winner of the Monday Stableford competition coming in with a great score of 46 points from Ron Livermore with 44 points.
The Nearest the Pin on the 2nd hole was won by Peter Diss and the 8th hole went to Geoff Sullivan.
The Down the Line balls were won by Bob Dowse 44, Hayden Bristow 42, George Coffey 42, Robert Sandiford 40, Lou Russell 40, John Hungerford 39, Rob Bishop 39, John Kingman 39 and Ian Shennan 38.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:Wednesday Competition

Cliff Pain was the winner of the Monday competition with 41 on a countback from Kevin Salau and Glenn Davey.
The Nearest the Pin 2nd hole saw Graham Ashley the winner. Graham also took out the 16th hole.
The 5th hole went to Peter Dempster and the 14th to Mal McKenna.
The Supa competition was won by Glenn Davey with the Nearest the Pin winner being Rob Bishop
The Down the Line balls went to Jim Giluley 40, Graham Ashley 39, Lionel Mahony 39, followed by those with 38 points in Kevin Wraight, Geoff Sullivan, Steven Smith, Brian Degering, Ray Shalders, Colin Jean, Peter Dempster, Glenn Charles, Ron Livermore, Robert Sandiford, Angie Peluso, Malcolm McKenna, Herman Lasonder 37, Alex Green 37.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:Twilight Results

The winner of the twilight competition was won on a countback by Sean Henderson with 22 points from Steve Barrett.
The Down the Line balls winners were Don Towan 21, Doug Amos 21, Dawn Van Roy 21, John Nooy 21, Matt Shores 20, Greg Dyker 20, David Jack 19, Phil Barling 18, Alex Green 18 and Michael Popof 18.
The Nearest the Pin 2nd shot on the 6th hole was won by Steven Laing with Nick Sleep the winner on the 8th hole.
The social winner was R. Barker and the raffle winner was David Joyce (for the 2nd time this year).

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:sunday competition
Rod Withington was the Sunday ball competition winner with 45 points on a countback from Stephen Mann.

The Down the Line balls went to Simon Fay 40, Mark Klaver 39, Steve Bennett 38, Jeffrey Le Busque 38, Keith Norman 38, Koe Bolton 38, Ross Mason 37 and Ian Fletcher 36.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:Ladies

The first Monthly Medal of 2011 was played by the ladies last Thursday with the winner being Toni Owen with 62 nett. The Division 1 winner was Shirley Roberts 71 and Leanne Barker 69 was the C Grade winner.
The Down the Line Balls went to Liz Garvey 70, Marg Andrews 72, Wendy Byrne 72, Maria Warburton 74, Kay Jones 76, Norah Gasgard 76.
The Nearest the Pin on a 2nd hole went to Anne Donovan with Wendy Carter taking out the 8th hole and Shirley Roberts the 14th hole.
The longest drive winners were Shirley Roberts, Toni Owen and Anne Donovan.
The putting went to Wendy Carter and the Silver Spoon qualifier was Leanne Barker.
Next week is Beginner’s Day, so if you want to have a go and try the sport of golf, please come along and have a try. The following week is Grandmother’s Day – a Stableford event.
The Pakenham Golf Club is also hosting a three week women’s beginners clinic on 15, 22 and 29 March – from 10am to 11 am – and followed by morning tea. The cost is $10 per session or $25 for 3 weeks. Equipment is provided, please dress in a comfortable way and wear flat shoes.
