Fevola comes

By Danny Buttler
CONTROVERSIAL football star Brendan Fevola could be living in the area, after signing with Casey Scorpions.
The former Carlton and Brisbane spearhead is looking to revive his career after a series of indiscretions led to him being sacked by both clubs.
Having just left a Brisbane rehabilitation facility, Fevola has decided to train with the Scorpions this week before a likely formal move is made in coming days.
Fevola played his junior football in Beaconsfield and Narre Warren, where he attracted the attention of TAC Cup side, Dandenong Stingrays.
Peter Blucher, from Fevola’s management company Velocity Sports, said the troubled full forward chose Casey, in part, because of his family connections in the area.
Speaking on sports radio station SEN, Blucher said Casey was a “good fit” because it was near to where Beaconsfield-raised Fevola and his family lived.
“I think for the first time in his life he’s taken absolute responsibility,” he said.
“He has hit rock bottom and everyone says you have to hit rock bottom, well I don’t think we ever really knew where rock bottom was until we got to this point.
“But he’s there and he’s setting a base which we hope can take him forward.”
Fevola has battled depression and addictions to alcohol and gambling.
His indiscretions date back to the start of his career and have plagued the champion forward for more than a decade.
More recent incidents have included a drunken Brownlow Medal spree, a New Year’s Eve arrest and allegations, of which he was later cleared, that he exposed himself to a woman at a Brisbane Lions family day.
