BEACONHILLS Country Golf Club’s week of golf was described as a great success with nine events hotly contested.
The Beaconhills Open, 36 holes played on the Lakes then the Old course, was won by Ashley Hall of Huntingdale for the second year running.
Ashley plays off plus-two and shot gross 67 and 68 for a total of 135 to win by eight shots.
Runner-up Garry Adams from Woodlands (handicap two) shot 71 and 72 for a total of 143.
The nett winner was Ross McClunie (handicap six) nett 133.
WEDNESDAY RESULTS
An inaugural event was played – a ladies 27-hole stroke event on the Old course.
The winner was Kate Combes from The National (handicap two) who shot 111 gross for the 27 holes to Katie Forbes (handicap four) who shot 123 gross.
The nett winner on the day was Lee James (handicap 30) with 101.
The grade winners of the concurrent 18-hole event both scored nett 68.
A grade was won by lady president June Biddle (handicap 23) and B grade by Kim Pitcher (handicap 36).
THURSDAY RESULTS
This was a Stableford event on the Old course.
The A-grade winner was Terry Crowe (handicap 10) 44 points, B grade John Madigan (handicap 17) 42 points and C grade Rob Dickinson (handicap 21) 37 points. Laura Griffin (handicap seven) was the ladies’ winner with 37 points.
FRIDAY RESULTS
The Retravision Corporate teams event was another inaugural event held on Friday.
Ascot Kitchens and Cabinets were the team winners, while Romney Whitchurch’s Co-Ordinated Furnishings were the runners-up.
Gavin McGill won the best individual Stableford score and Rodney Kiss won the best individual Calloway score.
On Saturday, 19 November those who were not playing in the Open contested the Plate, a Stableford event.
The Old course Plate winner was Andrew Merlo (handicap 25) with 41 points.
On the Lakes course, Denis Hooper (handicap 17) posted an early 40 points and held on all day to win the plate.
SUNDAY RESULTS
On Sunday 20 November, Peter Landon and David Crowe won the open four-ball-best-ball.
Peter’s four birdies in a row helped accumulate a winning 50 points.
Andrew Sheehan and Matthew Mytton teamed successfully to be runners-up on a countback with 48 points.
MIXED EVENT
The final event held was the four-ball-best-ball mixed event, followed by a dinner, which saw visitors from Eastern – David and Mary-Anne Tsai – blitz the field with 52 points.
Runners-up were Kim and Barry Pitcher with 48 points.
