Officer’s Loch Lowe Lake will be the venue for an event that should bring more than 200 people to test their skills.
The competition starts at 10am. Family tickets cost $15 plus $5 per fish caught.
The lake is filled with rainbow trout, and the Pakenham Angling Club, Pakenham Scout Group and G.W.S. Anderson Scout Park have joined forces for the event.
Park management committee spokesperson Graham Rose said it should be a great family fun day.
There will be hourly spot prizes, 40 tagged fish prizes and other rewards for anglers.
No fishing licence is needed.

THEY say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
It’s also the path to supporting homeless people.
“Eat out and help the homeless” is the message from Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato, who is backing the StreetSmart campaign to raise money to assist homeless people through the Big Dine Out initiative.
This gives diners at participating restaurants the opportunity to support the homeless through a voluntary donation of $2 per table at the end of their meal.
Ambrosia in Berwick is one of the local eateries backing the plan during the StreetSmart campaign, which this year runs until 24 December.
“StreetSmart is a non-profit organisation that raises funds for worthwhile community organisations that directly assist homeless people,” Ms Lobato said.
“All money raised is given directly to provide vital support services.”
