MERINDA Park’s A-grade bowlers made short work of Nar Nar Goon’s batsmen for a good win on Saturday.
Defending 201, the Cobras Darren Morrow took 4/49 and Lucas Hoogenboom 3/50 and Chris Shepherdson claimed 2/24.
The final wicket fell to a run-out with Michael Quieros throwing to wicketkeeper Rod Morrison.
Nar Nar Goon was bowled out for 122. Batting for a second time, the Cobras finished on 4/42 from 20 overs. Top score was Chris Shepherdson with 16.
B GRADE
In a match that saw 38 wickets fall for only 294 runs, the Cobras came out on top with first-innings points.
Star of the match was captain Marty Donaldson with 7/9 in Clyde’s first innings and then 39 runs with the bat in the Cobras second innings.
He was the only Cobra to get to double figures in the total of 66 after bowling Clyde out in its first innings for only 44.
Clyde then needed 110 to win outright and finished at stumps with 8/97.
John Cuthbertson took 5/45, Dustin Peebles picked up 1/29 and Marty Donaldson 1/14 to finish with figures of 8/23.
C GRADE
Defending only 131, the Cobras had a good attack and already had one wicket.
Gembrook played well to secure a first-innings win to make 6/225 by stumps.
The main wicket takers were both opening bowlers, Nic Reed with 2/21 John Proctor with 2/52.
D GRADE
Defending 236 against Lang Lang, the Cobras had a good win thanks to the leg spin of Sam Beaver. He captured 4/34 along with opening bowler Peter Shore to claim 2/20 and Grant Pearson with 2/15.
Nathan Beaver and Darren Smith picked up a wicket each. Batting a second time the Cobras made 5/39 by stumps.
E GRADE – RED
Having already won on first innings against Officer, the Cobras looked towards an outright victory, declaring on the overnight score of 6/156.
Opening bowlers Robert Strang with 4/13 and Trevor Lewtas, 2/16 were the chief wicket takers.
Jarrod Armitage with 1/12 from three overs, Anthony Burr with 1/2 and Steve Shepherdson with 1/5 were the other wicket takers.
An outright win for the Cobras by an innings and 59 runs.
E GRADE – WHITE
Chasing 162 against Tooradin, the Cobras were bowled out for 112.
Top score was Jeff Gillespie, continuing his fine form with the bat to make 25.
Stuart Martin did well to score 16 and opener Paul Humphrey with 14.
In the field for a second time, the Cobras had the host 5/114 at stumps.
Captain Lee Vowles was the best of the bowlers with 2/10.
Stuart Martin took 1/8 and Steve Tobin Jnr took 1/22 from four overs.
F GRADE
There was no play in this game against Pakenham Upper due to an unfit ground.
UNDER 16
The Cobras didn’t have a good day against Kooweerup, bowled out for only 58.
Only James Laughlin-Glen made it to double figures with 13. Dustin Peebles and Michael Theodoridis made eight runs each with opener Andy Martin making seven.
At stumps, Kooweerup is 0/18.
UNDER 14 WHITE
Also playing Kooweerup, the Cobras made 8/91 thanks to 21 from Andrew Hook, 14 from Michael Blackburn and 10 not out by Corbin Barrenger.
Brad Twyford, in his first year at the club, also played well for his eight runs.
UNDER 14 RED
Playing Kilcunda Bass, the Cobras had a great day with both the bat and ball, first bowling the hosts out for 24 then making 2/91 declared at stumps.
Star of the day was Jarrod Armitage with 5/6, then 32 retired when batting.
Anthony Burr also had a good match with the ball to claim 3/8.
Matt Grayson picked up 1/4 and made 10 when batting and Marcus Beaver 1/1.
Jason Pongracic bowled three overs for 0/4 and made 17 when batting.
At stumps, Daniel McCalman was 17 not out and Matt Pongracic three not out.
