The people

CONGRATULATIONS to all new and re-elected councillors in the Shire of Cardinia.
Well the people have spoken. What else can we say?
Let’s just hope and pray that our newly elected representatives do not, like the late ones, come under the spell of office or the officers and remember the hard work is now in front of them, not behind them.
This was not a single issue election. I can think of quite a few – like the $100 municipal levy ,our $49 million debt, a swimming pool, a golf course, and of course Cr Bill Ronald just to name a few.
If the Cardinia Residents and Ratepayers Association played its part, so be it.
No, we cannot rest on our laurels and say “a job well done”. We must remain vigilant and interested, because one can be sure there are already thoughts bandied around as to how to reverse this dangerous trend.
