PAKENHAM Upper Toomuc (PUT) will have to perform well in senior ranks this week after shaky starts in this round of matches.
A GRADE
The Yabbies faced a daunting run chase this week after conceding 291 at Emerald.
Darren Warne was the leading wicket-taker and Chris Sharpe took one wicket on his A-grade debut.
Anthony Young kept well, making two sharp stumpings.
C GRADE
Playing Devon Meadows at home, PUT veterans Brett Carey (38) and Andy Connor (28) and tyro Chris Smith (24) batted well but wickets tumbled around them and the innings ended at 123.
Dave Johnson (1/10) took a wicket before close of play to give the Yabbies some hope.
D GRADE
PUT travelled to Nyora and crashed to 5/15 before Brett Maddock (30) and Luke Gunton (17) batted for two hours and helped the final total to 82.
In reply, PUT started well and Nyora also had the staggers at 2/8 at stumps.
E GRADE
The Yabbies bowled out Merinda Park for 61, Ben Jarred again taking five wickets and captain Damien Garth four.
Early Yabbie wickets fell in reply, but Jon Rewell’s fine 52 not out helped the PUT innings past the target, assisted by John Fromhold (14) and Terry Bowler (22).
At the close the Yabbies were 4/103.
F GRADE
Opening bowlers Chris McKinlay (3/10) and captain Bob Phillips (3/3) had Gembrook’s batsmen in disarray before John Bourke cleaned up with 4/0 and the Yabbies found themselves with just 24 runs to chase.
This was achieved by opening bats Ben Spicer (13) and Blake McGrath (15).
After the 35 overs, PUT had made 5/95, Peter Reid scoring 13.
UNDER 16
Nick Fromhold, Jake Abel and Russell Bertram each took two wickets and Nar Nar Goon was all out for 97 runs.
In reply, the Yabbies batted with discipline to finish 6/106 and take the points.
Opener Luke Gunton continued his good form with a fine 35, supported by Abel (22) and Chris Smith (19) to make it three wins from four games.
UNDER 14 YABBIES
Chasing 129 against Beaconsfield Tigers, the Yabbies fell short by 12.
Dylan Russell top-scored with 32 retired, while Aidan Nooy (18), Jesse Dinnie (14) and Jamie Somers (13) all contributed.
UNDER 14 GOLD
Defending 121 against Upper Beaconsfield, the Golds recorded their third win on the trot, thanks to a tight bowling performance.
Harry Leo and Lucas Plozza both took three wickets apiece and Tom Black and Ben Spicer one each. Cameron Hill, Wilson Harvey and Matt Tripp all fielded well and Lewis O’Gorman’s glovework was commendable.
UNDER 14 BROWN
Chasing 118 against Clyde, the Browns got a steady start, Jordan Doolan-Pearse making 12 before being caught at fine leg before Nick Braham made a quick 18.
With good fielding Clyde got four run outs and the Browns were all out for 90 in the 35 over.
B. Riley took 3/3 off eight overs, B. Franklin 3/1 off four and D. Hadfield 3/1 off six.
The Browns were 3/12 in their second innings at the close but Clyde won on the first innings.
