PUT played at Croydon on Sunday, lost the toss and was sent in by Croydon.
Opening, Katie Ashley (34) and Kylie Bardwell took the run rate to five per over almost immediately before Bardwell went at 30.
All batters made good scores against the strong quick bowlers of Croydon. Liz Bardwell made a good 28 and solid batting by Rochelle Baker included a fine six. The score reached 127 in the last over.
Croydon matched PUT’s run rate, also losing the first wicket at 30 after a great catch by Tracey Chapman off Ashley’s bowling.
Bowling to top batters without luck seemed futile, but PUT held off Croydon until the 28th over and Croydon declared 2/144. Ashley finished with 1/18, Ruth Bardwell (1/25) taking the other wicket lbw.
Liz Bardwell showed she could bowl as well as bat with 0/8 off five overs, the best bowling all day.
