WGCA quick single

Lionel Sexton was a well respected opening bowler when he represented both Lang Lang and Kooweerup in the WGCA before work commitments took him away from West Gippsland four years ago. Sexton has now returned to the area and signed up with Catani. Injury has sidelined him until after Christmas, but he had time to share his thoughts about his WGCA career with Ian Ferguson.IF: What WGCA clubs have you represented?
LS: Lang Lang, Kooweerup and now Catani.

IF: Who have been the best local cricketers you have played with?
LS: Grant Williams and Steve Dalgleish (Lang Lang) and Matt Davey (Kooweerup).

IF: Who have been your most respected opponents?
LS: Simon Cornell (Officer), Chris Kelsall (Cranbourne Meadows) and Chris McConnell (Kooweerup).

IF: What is your favourite WGCA ground?
LS: Beaconsfield.

IF: What WGCA achievements have you treasured most?
LS: Lang Lang’s 1993-94 premiership and representing West Gippsland at Optus Oval when we were elevated to section two at Melbourne Country Week.

IF: What changes have you noticed since returning to the WGCA?
LS: Batting depth in club cricket has dropped away.

IF: What are the best features about the WGCA?
LS: The friendships between teammates and rival players.
