Thanks for the vision

HAS the Shire of Cardinia (formerly Pakenham) ever witnessed such passion for democracy as was seen at the Declaration of Election on Sunday, 27 November, 2005?
Congratulations to those councillors newly elected in the name of openness, ethical behaviour and genuine community consultation. But there are some quiet achievers whose names are rarely, if ever, heard and to whom an enormous debt of gratitude is due.
The 12 founding members of the Cardinia Residents and Ratepayers Association, who showed enough faith in the concept of this group to put in the hard work to get it started, should not be forgotten by those who came on board later. Your names are etched in my memory. Thanks, guys.
