A TEAM of 14 from Garfield Golf Club travelled to Mirboo North Golf Club last week to defend the annual Yaba Yaba trophy and retained it with a one-point Stableford win.
The trophy was struck some eight years ago by the Graeme brothers, Cliff (Garfield) and Gordon (Mirboo North). As Cliff now has difficulty playing golf, his son Ian travelled from Ballarat to take his place.
The team left Garfield travelling together via bus with Peter Scott driving and mascot Paul Wheeler there to oversee that all play came within the code of golfing etiquette.
Peter Scott was the key to the day amassing 43 points to win the major individual trophy and captain Peter Johnson collected A grade with 39 thus giving the visitors a great lead into winning the trophy.
It was described as a great day and game of friendship and camaraderie.
