There will be many CFA trucks in Upper Beaconsfield and Officer when Casey and Cardinia crews conduct fire exercises.By Emma Sun
MORE than 200 CFA volunteers from Casey and Cardinia will be in Upper Beaconsfield and Officer this Sunday to take part in wildfire fighting exercises.
They will be in Upper Beaconsfield in the morning and Officer Recreation Reserve in the afternoon to practice different firefighting scenarios.
No fires will be lit during these exercises, but residents are being informed that there will be an increased number of firetrucks travelling through the area between 8am and 4pm on the day.
CFA Deputy Group Officer Tony Riley said the scenarios planned are consistent with the identified risks within the local area and will help teams to prepare for the fire season ahead.
“We believe that all of the scenarios on the day will provide an ideal opportunity for skills maintenance and mentoring at all levels in a realistic environment.”
Signs about the exercise will be erected around Upper Beaconsfield and Officer on the day.
