Outlook now much better

PAKENHAM’S Outlook community centre has won a $50,000 grant to help transform a former school for people with disabilities into a multipurpose community centre.
The funding was announced during a visit on Friday by Minister for Victorian Communities and Deputy Premier John Thwaites with Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato. It will be used to refurbish classrooms for computer, art and music lessons and to build a large dining room and kitchen.
The car park will also be enlarged and fitted with night lights and portable buildings will be bought to provide extra space for new activities.
Mr Thwaites said the new Outlook Community Centre would be a fantastic win for the community.
“The renovations will give community groups a larger and more comfortable space to run activities such as horticulture classes, karate lessons and a numeracy and literacy program.”
Ms Lobato said the project grew out of feedback from clients and community groups.
“It’s important we continue to support community infrastructure like the Outlook Community Centre because these spaces are a focal point for a range of community activities, events and services.”
