ROY Hansen was the star of the show at Drouin Golf Club on Saturday as a great field of 121 players enjoyed fine conditions in the Par event.
Hansen (23) won B Grade with the day’s best score of +7 to win by four shots from runner-up Steve Haaz. Graeme Kennedy, Jack Gardiner, Geoff Thomas and Garry Graves all played well in B Grade to come in with scores of +2.
In A Grade Make Allen (2) was under the card with an excellent round of +4. Runner up was Rick Johnson +3 on a count back from Eric Robbins. Steve Mallon was next on +2.
C Grade winner was Eric Smart (27) with +2 on a count back from runner-up John Gay. Brendan Kearns and Darryl McAteer also had scores of +2. Nearest the pins went to Jock Granger (second), Joe Kawalko (fifth), Jason Wilkinson (14th) and Peter Downward on the 17th.
119 players contested the mid week Stableford event last Wednesday. Bruce Salmon (15) was the A Grade winner with 38 points. Runner up was Gordon Warren also on 38 points on a count back from Brent Eastwell and Peter Devries.
Brian Maunder (20) won B Grade with 38 points on a count back from David Banfield. Mike Waring and Shane Gorman were next, both on 37. In C Grade Errol Hopkinson (26) was the winner with 38 point on a count back from Ray Haley.
Nearest the pins went to Ian McColl (second), Fred Gadjobranski (fifth pro-pin), Robert Palmer was simply irresistible on the 14th while George Shand was nearest on the 17th.
This Saturday is the Club’s Christmas Open Medley 4BBB Stableford. This event is a shotgun start at 10.00am, members are reminded to register in the Pro Shop prior to Saturday – if you require a partner, the club will attempt to pair you up.
