FOR those whose New Year resolution is to do a good deed of some sort, 4Cs Pakenham is looking for volunteers to help them with a range of tasks.
They are looking for people from all backgrounds who have a couple of hours to spare each day, week or fortnight.
There are currently vacancies for the centre in Pakenham five days a week, bread pick-ups five nights a week, the op-shop in Garfield Monday to Saturday and an able-bodied man to assist the storeman driver.
They are also looking for three people for management positions, including a personal assistant to director Jeni Mathieson, someone to work in financial assistance in Kooweerup and also someone to manage the no-interest loans.
Training is provided for all positions. 4Cs manager Deb Porter said there was always a need for more volunteers, and as long as they have the right attitude, 4Cs would be happy to welcome them with open arms.
“We firmly believe that people need a non-judgemental spirit, it’s about loving people and retaining their dignity and grace, so it is important people don’t do this out of a sense of duty, but out of a sense of compassion,” she said.
“Much of the work is labour-intensive work, so the more hands we have, the lighter the workload. There’s a great sense of team spirit and a lot of fun and laughter.”
Anyone who would like to volunteer, can pick up registration forms at the 4Cs office at 5/114 Princes Highway, Pakenham (behind La Porchetta) between 10am and 3pm.
Alternatively, call 5941 2268 and leave a message for Deb Porter.
