PAST winners were once again successful in the recent Kooweerup 2011/2012 Bowls Club Championships after tight and gripping contests decided the titles.
In the Men’s final Lindsay Wealands won his second title defeating Ron Ingram 26-23 and in the Ladies’ final Evelyn Calder claimed her third title defeating Mary Masters 25-21. Both finals were extremely close and well played and to many of the spectators worthy of ABC coverage.
Wealands and Calder then represented the club at the recent Champion of Champions event and despite losing to their Blue Hills and Mornington opponents did the club proud.
To win these events is now a great achievement as there is 34 clubs within the region instead of 13 clubs in the old association so the events are now a lot tougher to win.

Winners were John Van Vugt, Wally Noy and Jim Smith with 40 points from runners-up Ken Mynard, Ralph Anderson and Geoff Patullo on 35 points.
Best second game winners were Mary Masters, Kon Kormas and Tony Van Vugt with 19 points.
