One-man rampage

The Pakenham Golf Club played host to the “Paul Hendry Show” on Saturday as the B Grade player went on a one-man rampage to score an incredible 50 points off his 13 handicap in Stableford competition.
Hendry teed off in one of the first groups of the day and shot a one-under par 70 to wipe the smile of many players faces as they came in throughout the day with scores in the low to mid 40s.
The course is in great condition at the moment and this was reflected by the quality of scoring that was handed in. Another early morning player Bryan Clydesdale took out A Grade with 43 points while John Piggott completed a trifecta of impressive scores by winning C Grade with 45 points. Balls down the line went to 38 points.
Nearest the pins went to Rob McCrae (2nd), Matt Hogan (5th), Troy Whittaker (8th), Pat Ellerton (14th) and Tom Cassidy grazed the hole on the 16th. Closest second shots went to Damien Rhyne (3rd) and Mitch Dempster on the 6th. Longest Drives were A Grade Kevin Booker, B Grade Spencer Noonan with a 290m bomb and C Grade Stuart Scott. Next week’s competition is a Par event.

Monday competition winner was Dave Lummis (20) with 42 points, balls down the line going to 34 points. Nearest the pins went to Troy Whittaker (2nd), Norm Boag (8th) and Bob Laidlaw on the 14th.

The big scores kept rolling in on Wednesday with Pat Ellerton winning with 44 points on a count back from Trevor Knaggs. Balls down the line went to 37 points. Nearest the pins went to Rob Bishop (2nd), Lee Belton (5th), Brian Webster (8th) and Belton again on the 16th. Super-comp winner was Dave Lummis and NTP was Michael Davey.

The twilight competition winner was Mick Boyd with 22 points on a count back from Dave Joyce. Balls down the line went to 19 points on a count back and the raffle winner was Leanne Davey.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WEDNESDAY NIGHT TEES AND TWILIGHT GOLF

The Club holds a nine-hole twilight competition every Wednesday, right through to the close of daylight savings. Tee times start at 3pm and members and guests are both welcome.
Follow the golf with dinner at the club from 5.30pm to 8pm. Members, guests and visitors are all invited to try out the new menu at a reasonable cost. The first Wednesday of the month is a roast carvery with all other weeks an a la carte menu.

The Sunday competition was won by Bill Gourley (26) with 41 points from Daryl Joiner (19) on 39 points with balls down the line going to 36 points.

Sunday also saw the Junior Pennant season get underway with the boys and girl travelling to Morwell to take on Drouin with Drouin taking out the match 4/1.
The shining light for Pakenham was Mitchell Dempster who won his match convincingly winning 6/5 after giving away 3 shots. Well done Mitch. No Pennant this week.
