Huyskens back in limelight

HARRY Huyskens has a pair of aces after he provided the highlight of the day at the Garfield Golf Club on Saturday when he aced the very tricky eighth hole.
Huyskens had a hole-in-one on the ninth hole back in 2006 to complete the rare feat of acing two holes that sit back-to-back on the card.
Back to the mere mortals and it was Chris Davies (8) who took out both the A Grade scratch and handicap event with a gross 73 and a nett 65. Martin Atkins shot an 85 to win the B Grade scratch on a count-back with Steve Fordham (20) taking out the handicap event with a nett 65. Don Smith was the C Grade scratch winner with an 86 and Ron Silver (36) (Pak) won the handicap event with a nett 62.
The February monthly medal was won by Steve Dolan (36) who carded a gross score of 101 to come in with a nett 65 to win in a four-way count-back.
Down the line balls went to D.Smith on 65, C.Cousland, P.Smith, N.Watson and l.Milner on 66 and G.Needham, B.Purdon and E.Harvie on 67.
Nearest the pins went to P.King (8th), H.Huyskens (Hole in one 8th), G.Pretty (9th), D.Bassed (11th), R.Johnson (14th) and P.Johnson on the 16th.
In the Summer Cup match-play event, Damien Needham defeated Mick Neylen on the 20th hole while in the ladies Deidrie Pilkington (22) scored victory with a nett 74.

Ian Hopper continued his good recent form with 40 points to take out the day from William Church and Peter King on 37 points. Next best was Grant McKay on 36 points with Greg Needham, John Scale and Nigel Goldworthy all scoring 35 points.
Nearest the pins went to R.Jones (4th), P.King (9th), R.Jones (11th), C.Barnes (14th) and N.Needham on the 16th. The secret nine winner was William Church with 21 points.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TWILIGHT

Peter Carmondy scooped the pool with 21 points, winning the twilight comp on a count back from B.Blackledge with J.Buckingham close behind on 20 points. Carmondy was also the winner of the lucky draw and nearest the pin on the14th hole.

Ronda Knee was the ladies Stableford winner with 34 points on a count back from Vikki Templeton. Down the line balls went to Leesa Matthews and Deidrie Pilkington, both with a score of 33 points.

Yallourn was the host of this week’s junior pennant, and the Garfield team enjoyed the course to record a great result, winning 4/1..
Jackson Wade won 4/3, Dean McNamara won 2-up, Peter Van Derhorst won 3/2, Wade Hayson lost 2 down and Michael Henderson won 10/8.
The Sunday Open Stableford winner was Lou Artico with 37pts.
