Race day spirits high

– Brad Kingsbury
A CROWD of more than 1500 celebrated the festive season at the annual Pakenham Christmas race meeting on Friday and the Gazette was there to capture all the fun of the big event.
Santa Claus made an appearance, together with the glamorous Bundy Girls, who were on hand for the presentation to winning connections of race three, the Bundy Rum Maiden Plate.
The racing highlights included a win to Nar Nar Goon trainer John Leek’s stayer Dawson Road in the day’s feature race and a double to Mornington mentor Fran Houlahan.
Almost 1000 patrons took advantage of the Pakenham Racing Club’s hospitality packages, ending the year on a fun and festive note.
Club racing manager Michael Hodge was happy with the response to what has become a regular feature event at Pakenham.
