IT may be the third letter of the alphabet, but it’s the not the third letter of our fair town.
A letter C has been spotted in the spelling of Pakenham (note: no C before K) for the second time in two weeks.
Last week, it was on the wine list at the Pakenham Hotel. This week, therogue consonant popped up in an electronic sign advising changes to drivingconditions on Racecourse Road.
Apparently the person entering the information into the sign decided to bypass normal spelling and invent a new name for the town. He or she may as well have been pointing us to the Wrongtown Bypass.
Please report any other mispellings of the town name to About Town at melissa.meehan@starnewsgroup.com.au.
That’s not my name
