IN a town without many soccer teams, local rivalries are hard to find. There is one starting to develop in the under-11s however, the only division where Cardinia United Cougars square off against the Bunyip Strikers.
Their match on Sunday was a bit lopsided, with Cardinia kicking away to a 7-0 victory, but the match was played in good spirits and the Strikers never gave up.
Cardinia captain Vince Scacco was named man of the match, performing ably through the midfield and defence and also kicking a goal.
Other goals went to Max Humble (two), Jackson Lino (two), Mawrien Nielo and Luke Bokos. A good crowd of Pakenham senior players turned up for the match as well, with the Cougars seniors winning 2-0 over Monash on Sunday afternoon.
Cardinia and Bunyip also had some special visitors help out this week as the Melbourne Heart visited the two clubs on Tuesday and Wednesday, with some of their star players teaching the next generation of players how to become the best soccer players.
