HE was judged best in the state at the recent DJ Mixing Victorian Championships and is one step closer to the world DJ Championship in London in September.
In a digital age, where most DJs rely on laptops and iPods to put together their sets, Lee, or DJ Lee Crisp, still prefers vinyl.
He says that, though digital has its selling points, he prefers to hark back to the “real craft of hip hop.”
“You get far more respect and there is a lot more skill involved in real vinyl,” he said.
“That’s a (great part) of being a DJ; hunting down records.”
Lee says he will continue to hone his 10 years of experience by practicing at least three to four hours a night in the lead-up to the competition. 83511 Picture: STEWART CHAMBERS
