UNDER-13 Pakenham Lions netballers were taught by the best on Thursday, when champion netballer and Melbourne Vixens player Julie Corletto ran a clinic for the team at Cardinia LiFE.
Pakenham Lions team manager Marg Jones said that while getting down to the ‘business end’ of the season, she thought the clinic would be useful as the team was currently sitting in equal first position.
“It was a great opportunity for our under-13s to have a training session with her,” Marg said.
“The girls were extremely excited. For some of them, she’s their idol.”
The girls all stood listening very attentively as Julie spoke, giving a brief history of herself then running through drills with the eager netballers.
Julie and her husband Darren have been running clinics for three years, including both basketball and netball.
The Vixens netballer said she loved running these programs, and was in her hometown of Kerang earlier this week hosting one of her many regional clinics.
“I love getting back to my grass roots and where it all started,” she said.
Also a qualified teacher, Julie manages to balance her own netball commitments with a series of clinics that she said generally ran throughout the holidays.
