A GRASSFIRE caused by a power line fault burnt out half an acre of a paddock in Pakenham South yesterday (Tuesday).
Firefighters were called to the blaze about 9am after an area of grass caught alight, spreading rapidly and producing a large amount of smoke.
Nar Nar Goon Fire Brigade Lieutenant Geoff Bramley said the fire was started by a power line fault at the top of a power pole in the centre of the paddock and spread to the grass below.
Fire brigade units from Nar Nar Goon, Pakenham, Bayles and Kooweerup attended the scene.
It took 15 firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
