NEW bus services in Pakenham are now operating.
The new services, announced late last year, include:
– Route 926 Fountain Gate to Pakenham (replacing Route 826), now also servicing the Lakeside area in Pakenham;
– Route 927 (Pakenham town centre) which goes through the north-western part of Pakenham including the area around Eagle Drive;
– Route 928 (Pakenham town centre), catering for the area of Pakenham south of the railway line; and
– Route 929 (Pakenham town centre), servicing the area around Army Road.
Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato said she was delighted these new routes were starting.
Ms Lobato said the services would improve residents’ accessibility to essential facilities in Pakenham, as well as in Beaconsfield, Berwick and Fountain Gate.
“As well as providing residents who do not drive with further transport options, these bus services also offer a viable and affordable alternative so that people can leave their cars at home and use public transport instead,” Ms Lobato said.
“As new estates continue to grow and increase in terms of population numbers, one priority is to ensure that the new demand for public transport is met.
Cardinia Transit is operating the new services.
