A COW stolen early last month was found at the weekend milked dry and roaming near the Cora Lynn property from where it was taken.
After a monthlong intensive search, dairy farmer Robin McCauley found the cow wandering along the road.
He said the cow, a fouryearold purebred friesian valued at $2500, had been milked for the last four weeks since it was taken.
“Someone redelivered it,” Mr McCauley said.
“It’s been somewhere and come back.
“Obviously they got scared.
“Granted, I have spent the last four weeks looking for it, dropping flyers and asking people. I’ve been everywhere.”
The cow was stolen from the MacKillop Road property early in the morning on 1 February.
Neighbours reported seeing a white and silver horse truck near the property about 3am.
Mr McCauley said he wanted to thank everyone who rang and put some effort into searching for the heifer.
He said he had numerous reports of people who had had cows stolen from their properties and not reported it.
He said he was glad his weeks of searching had not been in vain and that people stealing cows could not get away with it.
“It’s good it’s ended well,” Mr McCauley said.
“It makes everyone’s life a lot easier when things go your way.”
