Start damages undermanned Bombers

THE senior Emerald side played Seville at Seville in gusty, cold and overcast conditions. The undermanned Emerald had no answers to the strength and speed of Seville.
In the first quarter Seville managed to post nine goals with the wind against Emerald’s two.
The second quarter was more evenly contested, Emerald kicking three goals with the wind to Seville’s two.
The third and fourth quarters were dominated by Seville, which ran out an easy victor.

Emerald defeated top side Seville in a nailbiter.
Emerald started the game with no bench due to injuries and illnesses, however the side was still able to keep up with the ladder leaders in gusty conditions and kicking with the wind in the first quarter. Seville managed to kick four goals against the wind and Emerald managed three. This set up a very difficult task for the rest of the game.
In the second quarter Seville kicked another four goals to Emerald’s two. Seville at the main break was three goals up.
The third quarter was all Emerald’s, the Bombers having a new lease of life and kicking with the wind. The ball was continually moved into the Emerald forward line and with accurate conversions the forwards scored seven goals to Seville’s one. Emerald had a handy lead going into the last quarter against the wind.
The last quarter was closely contested, Emerald defending to the best of its ability against a strong wind. Seville scored four goals, however Emerald managed to post two and came out the victor, winning in an exciting finish by five points

UNDER 18

Emerald came out and played strong football in the first quarter against top side Healesville. Both sides defended extremely well and Emerald scored the only point for the quarter.
The second quarter again was fiercely contested, however Healesville managed to score three goals to Emerald’s one. The gusty conditions played havoc with kicking and marking and players found the going tough.
In the third and fourth quarters Healesville ran away with the game, scoring three and four goals to Emerald’s one in each.
Emerald took the game up to Healesville but was just not able to convert opportunities.
