BEACONHILLS College Berwick swimmer Jemma Phillips has become the number tworanked backstroke swimmer for her age in Victoria.
Jemma demonstrated a talent for backstroke and on Sunday, 19 February competed in the Victorian Long Course Sprint Championships at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. The sprint events are held over 50 metres and about 50 children competed in the 11yearold and under age group.
Jemma qualified thirdfastest for the final and finished a close second, setting a new personal best of 36.81 seconds.
She has been swimming for Beaconhills College for four years, but only started competing competitively outside school events in April 2005.
