RESIDENTS have just three more weeks to comment on a draft management plan for Bayles Fauna Reserve.
The Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) and the Bayles Fauna Reserve Committee of Management are encouraging residents in Bayles and surrounding areas to look at the draft plan and contribute to the final version.
The draft plan aims to improve the environmental values of reserve through weed control and habitat protection.
It also suggests an interpretive walking trail to enhance visitor appreciation and awareness of natural and cultural values.
A public meeting at the reserve last weekend resulted in some amendments to the draft plan.
DSE land use planning officer Emily Phillips said community feedback on the draft plan was vital.
“The community wants to get the best out of its reserve, and we welcome any feedback on how this can be achieved,” she said.
The draft plan can be inspected at the Cardinia Shire Council Office in Pakenham, the Cardinia Mobile Library, the Bayles Post Office and the DSE web site at www.dse.vic.gov.au.
A questionnaire and details of how to submit a written response can be found with copies of the plan and on the website.
When all comments have been collated, the plan will be revised and given to the DSE Port Phillip regional director for consideration.
Submissions close on Friday, 31 March.
