WARNINGS to be wary of doortodoor salespeople flogging water filters have not gone unheeded.
Several residents have contacted the Gazette to say they had told salespeople they were quite happy with water from the tap.
Residents from Nar Nar Goon, Lang Lang and Pakenham are among the people to have had their homes visited by salespeople offering water quality tests with the intention of selling filtration units.
South East Water managing director Dennis Cavagna said the salespeople were trying to frighten people with claims that water could be responsible for a number of ailments.
Mr Cavagna said that in most cases water filters were an unnecessary expense.
Residents told the Gazette they believed their water tasted fine.
