High five for Drouin

IT was a clean sweep for Drouin Netball Club against Morwell on Saturday, cementing all six of its teams in the top five.

A GRADE

Drouin was on top from the first whistle and dominated throughout the game.
Its allcourt defence gave the goalers Keira Rees (GS) and Kylie Proctor (GA) plenty of opportunities. Tania McLeish stepped up to A grade and played a strong game.
With a comfortable lead, Drouin gave the opportunity to its young guns to get a taste of senior netball. Lauren Ablett, Stacie Proctor, Kelly Hedley and Lisa Watson all made their Agrade debut.
With increased intensity, Drouin lifted its scoring rate with the youngsters keen to make their mark.
A veteran at 20, Amy Fraser, led the way with some consistent, strong play.

B GRADE

Drouin was dominant from the start and too quick and strong for the opposition, showing its versatility through the midcourt and trying different combinations.
With Kelly Bethune starring in the centre in the final quarter, the team finally found the balance it had been searching for.

C GRADE

Drouin played a great team game. Tania Lissenden (GS) was a focal point in attack, moving well and goaling accurately.
Bronwyn Edwards and Millie Westhead were tall and strong in defence, making the Morwell goalers work hard for every goal.

17 AND UNDER

Drouin played a strong first quarter, but still had lapses of concentration throughout the game.
With many positional changes, Drouin proved to be extremely versatile. Ally McArthur dominated at wing attack, feeding goalers Ebony Dunne and Nicky Bryce superbly.
Another strong team performance.

15 AND UNDER

In a physical contest, Drouin remained composed and kept the scoreboard ticking over.
Caitlin Bills (WA) drove well through the midcourt, fed the goalers well and the defenders did a top job bringing the ball from defence to attack.
Alisha Bills (GD) was dominant and also enjoyed her chance in goals in the final quarter. Jess Hedley played a strong game when moved into the centre with her defensive work outstanding. Larissa Smethurst (GK) was relentless, significantly restricting Morwell’s scoring.

13 AND UNDER

Drouin tried a few different combinations, all with of success.
Zoe Henry enjoyed the run at goal attack, driving well and smart passing off to goal shooter Peta Matthews. Mel Piner (WA) fed the goalers superbly and did an excellent job defending in the midcourt.
Jess Wyatt (WD) played a top game, intercepting time and time again. Brittany Dore relished the challenge at centre and goalkeeper, executing the coaches’ instructions perfectly. Meggan O’Dea and Peta Matthews rebounded strongly in defence.
In the last quarter, Stacey Megee and Mel Piner teamed up well in goals.
