Tooradin topples rival

TOORADIN Netball Club’s Agrade team started the season with a win over old rival Cranbourne by seven goals on Saturday.
With few fresh faces in the team, Tooradin proved to be a force even while mixing up the play with a several changes.
Scores: Tooradin 46 d Cranbourne 39.
Best: Kerryn Van der Heyden.

B GRADE

Tooradin went into a tough season opener with new faces.
Carly Booth proved to be tough opposition for the Cranbourne goalers, combining well with Stacey McLeod.
Annaleise Van Rooye added height to the defensive ring, while captain Julia Rowan forced many turnovers as well as racking up some impressive intercepts. The mid court worked their tails off in what was a pressure packed game while Sharna Wadeson made some spectacular drives into the goal ring.
With the crowd going wild Tooradin was unable to convert its turnovers and went down by a goal.
Scores: Cranbourne 32 d Tooradin 31.
Best: Julia Rowan.

C GRADE

With only one player from last year’s lineup, Tooradin took the court with enthusiasm and showed great potential and talent to work with. Jess Connell demonstrated smart netball and with Amy Wishart managed to feed the goalers well. However it was a defenders’ game, Lou Shackles taking some flying leaps and being well supported by junior Megan Ellet, who stood up brilliantly in the defensive ring. Despite the positives that came from the match Tooradin went down to a more experienced Cranbourne by 11 goals.
Scores: Cranbourne 37 d Tooradin 26.
Best: Louise Shackles.
