Beaconsfield tames Panthers

AGAINST Devon Meadows on Saturday the breeze favoured the Beaconsfield clubrooms end and the Panthers made good use of it early.
But the Eagles fought back and took the lead late in an 11goal opening quarter.
The second quarter proved to be the game breaker, with Fletcher, Charles and the Jacksons dominating as Beaconsfield slammed on eight goals to one.
At the long break things were looking ominous for Devon Meadows but the Panthers regrouped for the second half and with the aid of the breeze clawed their way back into contention.
The Panthers took it right up to the Eagles in the final quarter, getting within four goals, but Beaconfield rallied late and put the result out of reach for Devon Meadows.
After an entertaining game the Eagles finished with a 38point victory.
Scores: Beaconsfield 21.14.140 d Devon Meadows 16.6.102.
Goals: Kris Fletcher, Troy Cashman 4, Ross Jackson, Luke McConnell, Matt Kenny, Tim Musgrove 2, Damien Szwaja, Nathan Tiberi, Bryce Tonks, Ben Airdrie, Ben Collins 1.
Best: Ross Jackson, Craig Jackson, Kris Fletcher, Nathan Tiberi, Troy Cashman.

RESERVES

Beaconsfield has been depleted over the past few weeks through injury but went into the game against Devon Meadows with finals hopes alive.
Playing with plenty of spirit, Beaconsfield led at the first change and, despite wasting opportunities in front of goal, was level at halftime.
After the break, Devon Meadows turned up the heat and the Eagles were unable to match the hardrunning Panthers.
Now that the finals are out of the question and with players expected back from injury, the plan will be to make it hard for ROC and Doveton in the final two rounds.
Scores: Devon Meadows 15.5.95 d Beaconsfield 9.8.77.
Goals: Jarrod Kemperman 3, Brendan Jarman, Ryan Jolliffe, Heath Airdrie, Troy Aylen 1.
Best: Warren Sheean, Heath Airdrie, James Brown, Ricky Geritz, Dean Van Lambaart.

UNDER 18

Given several players were in the seniors or reserves and otherswere playing school football, there was an opportunity for players to show what they could do with the finals round the corner.
In an even performance Beaconsfield played attractively to win convincingly against the bottom side.
Scores: Beaconsfield 15.13.103 d Devon Meadows 2.3.15.
Goals: Daniel Battaglin, Seymour Bright 4, Jeff Jonas 2, Peter McCormick, Daniel Muzzolini, Steve Munday, Daniel Clarke, Ryan George 1.
