INABRIDE 01EIGHTYyearold wedding dresses and lots of nostalgia were top of the list at the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick wedding reception.
Berwick Inner Wheel hosted neighbouring clubs Cranbourne, Dandenong, Narre Warren and Pakenham at a “bridal reminiscence” at Castello’s Berwick Springs Hotel on Monday, 3 April.
More than 100 women resplendent in their wedding attire attended a wedding reception extraordinaire, where wedding dresses belonging to the Berwick members, their family or friends, were either modelled or displayed.
Presidents and secretaries of visiting clubs unknowingly became brides and grooms for the evening with District A62 president Margaret Heslin being named “Mother of the Bride” for the night.
Berwick Inner Wheel members Robyn Shaw and Betty Tudge did a wonderful job modelling nine dresses during the “reception”.
Between modelling segments, the visiting clubs were asked to perform skits, like “toast to the bride and groom”, a source of considerable hilarity.
Memorabilia was displayed, with one member finding her father’s costing of her wedding hidden away in the archives at home.
All present were able to take home a piece of “real” wedding cake baked by Berwick member Beryl Excel.
The raffle raised $560.
The proceeds will go towards the A62 District project Schools in Tanzania.
