Big two pledge their best

ONE quite forthright DOVETON follower contacted Footy Shorts last week in reaction to news that NARRE WARREN has openly declared that they will win the 2006 premiership in a playerpledged mission statement.
Our man said that he and a few mates will be at the Robinson Reserve this Saturday with paper and pen poised with their own pledges, which will be pinned to the Magpies’ changeroom door after the Doves’ victory.

DEVON MEADOWS officials are breathing easier, as are their opponents, with news that more than 150 juniors have moved from the overused Glover Reserve to Casey Fields.
That means that the annual quagmire that usually appears after a decent rain event at the ground will, hopefully, be a thing of the past.

AT LEAST one Casey Cardinia League club has not finished recruiting just yet according to a deep throat and a bigname player is believed to be on the verge of signing.

CASEY SCORPIONS have done their best to win the support of surrounding clubs but NARRE WARREN is one that is not too happy with the VFL side’s policies.
Former STINGRAY Brad Scalzo, who is on the Scorpions’ list, was refused permission to play for the Magpies in round one despite not being selected to play for the Casey team.
As there was no Scorpions reserve game that weekend, Scalzo, whose home club is Narre Warren, was forced to watch the Magpies belt BERWICK from the sidelines.
Neither he nor the club were happy with the puzzling decision and the fact that FRANKSTON list players were allowed to play for their clubs made it worse.ON THE positive side for the SCORPIONS is news that the clubs first home game at Casey Fields against the BOX HILL HAWKS on 29 April, will be launched by Victorian Premier Steve Bracks. A pregame luncheon will be held at the new facility and the match kicks off at 1.10pm.

GEMBROOKCOCKATOO will hold a reunion of its 1986 premiership team at the clubrooms this Saturday starting at noon. The reunion officially starts the clubs centenary year celebrations, which will culminate with a gala weekend on 22 and 23 July.
