PLAYING NeerimNeerim South at home, Kooweerup’s under15 side started by losing Jack Carson with a shoulder injury. But the defence then stood tall, Jeremy Dower showing out doggedly in the back pocket. Efforts by John and Ron Bright and Shaun Marusic stood out early.
In the second quarter Kooweerup put in a better effort in blustery conditions. A clever tap by Michael Miller to Marusic resulted in a goal and Hayden Watson, using his pace, pushed the ball forward to Ron Bright for another.
In the third term Paul Huxtable, Ron and John Bright and Watson pushed the ball forward for another Marusic goal. Dale Robinson also repelled many attacks.
In the last quarter a good passage of play was finished by a great Michael Miller snap for goal.
Kooweerup finished the game by wasting opportunities and not looking for teammates when in possession, which will be worked on in coming weeks.
Scores: Kooweerup 4.6.30 d NeerimNeerim South 2.2.14.
