Julie’s winning drive

DROUIN Golf Club’s Julie Robertson will soon enjoy a different kind of driving – behind the wheel of a luxury SAAB for a weekend.
This was after she shot a top Stableford round of 37 points to win the event last Tuesday.
The event was sponsored by SAAB, with a CCR of 34 points.
President Bernace welcomed Ray Biffin from Barry Bourke Warragul, who presented the five best scorers with travel cases and the winner with a SAAB to drive for a weekend.
SAAB was thanked for its sponsorship and also for the free drinks that were enjoyed after the game.
As well as the SAAB prize, Julie also won a travel case and jokingly threatened to pack, jump into the car, do a few wheelies and drive off into the sunset.
Members have also threatened to organise a search party.
The second winner was Betty Johnson with 36 points. She has broken her handicap and is now on 29. She said her new case would be very handy when she trips off to Scotland next month.
The third winner was Judy Bibby with 35 points and the fourth winner was Olive Reid with 34 points on a countback to the fifth winner, Di Sullivan.
Nearest the pin on the 14th was Poss Leeson. No one claimed it on the 19th and the propin was won by Mary Tymensen.
Downthelineballs went to Robyn O’Brien, 34 points, Shirley Todd, Mary Tymensen and Margaret Cole, all on 33 points and Audrey Smethurst on 32 points.
Thursday’s 9 hole Senior’s competition was cancelled for the Drouin Tournament.
The event on 2 May will be Stableford.
